JUNJUNG LANGIT will be an immersive, experiential & meditative installation space specifically-designed for a semi-traditional house called Pok Rafeah in Langkawi. It will be a part of Langkawi Immersive Art Festival, Februari 2024, insyaAllah. The idea is based on an inner journey towards silence and peace. It is inspired by a Malay word for a house ‘kediaman’ which is a short for ‘ke arah diam dan aman’. ‘Junjung Langit’ refers to the Nusantara's cosmology of sustainability, focusing on the elevation of human experiences from form-based - body or 'rumah kasar/zahir and finiteness, to formlessness - spirituality or 'rumah halus/batin' and infinity. The phrase 'junjung langit' is based on the 'bumi sama dipijak, langit sama dijunjung' which relates to humans as the custodians of Nature, mediating between heaven and earth, the zahir - seen, form, physical and batin - unseen, formlesness, spiritual.
