Bukit Gondol, Pulau Dayang Bunting, Langkawi.
Semasa meredah ke puncak, angkuh kami pecah dihentak gerabak besi yang ditarik trektar gagah. Adegannya persis menyeludup buruh ladang tanpa negara, menimbulkan belas terhadap komuniti terpinggir yg sering terusir. Terimakasih tak terhingga kepada pilotnya, Bang Sarip dan Wak. Mereka krew Felcra yg dengan selamba mengemudi trektar di celah cerun 45 darjah dgn sebelah tangan saja. Mereka juga menyediakan 'delivery service' kopi o panas dengan kapcai, turun-naik Bukit Gondol termasuk meredah hutan dan ladang getah dalam gelap gelita. Turun 30 minit, naik 30 minit. Kami yg dulu buta hati, tercelik (dan ada yg terbeliak) mata hati. Jika ada belas terhadap alam yang dihuni, mata yang gelap boleh disuluh oleh hati yang cerah dan terang. Osem!
While climbing up to the top, our pride and ego were broken to pieces by a metal container that was pulled by a strong tractor. The scene reminded us of the trafficking of Stateless plantation workers, whilst instilling a pinch of compassion towards the often marginalized and deported communities. Thank you so much to our pilots, Pak Sarip and Wak. Both of them are Felcra crew who easily steered the tractor down and up 45 degree slope at times, with only one hand. They also provided a delivery service to bring us hot black coffee, riding down and up the hill with their kapcai bikes, including passing through a jungle and rubber plantation in the darkness of night. 30 minutes down, and 30 minutes up. Our blind hearts we opened. If we have compassion towards the habitat that we dwell in, our blind eyes can be guided by enlightened hearts. Awesome!
