KEBUN RUPA AT MGTF USM

Kebun Rupa, as viewed from Kebun Rasa
Kebun Rupa MGTF (Muzium & Galeri Tuanku Fauziah) USM  (Universiti Sains Malaysia) is finally ready, after 3 years of vibrating in a lingering quantum state. It was initiated by its first Artist-in-Residence, Najjar Musawwir from the USA last year in 2011. It is currently occupied informally by Shamsul Bahari, a local Penang artist. Other than residency, Kebun Rupa is currently utilized for small scale tutorial and consultation space.

Kebun Rupa is a space for multi-dimensional paths to garden the mind through trans-disciplinary engagements in visual culture, cultural studies, cybernetic and new media paradigm, mind studies, quantum physic, Eastern metaphysic, alternative healing and sustainability.

Kebun Rupa provides studio space, video editing concolse, video art library of USM Video Art Collection, mini library primarily on new media and electronic art, mini lecture, seminar and tutorial space, private consultation space, guest lounge, a mini pantry and a washroom/toilet.

Kebun Rupa is located just across the office block of the Muzium & Galeri Tuanku Fauziah, Universiti Sains Malaysia (MGTF USM). It is also surrounded by a natural setting, on a majestic and historical hill, a stone throw away from USM Eco-hub, Global Archaeological Research Centre and Durian Valley (mini jungle). It is just a walking distance from USM's Guest Houses, a restaurant, a futsal field, and a majestic view of the iconic Penang bridge and Straits of Penang.

Kebun Rupa is driven by the spirit of unveiling and experiencing the infinite creative manifestations of the working of the Supreme Intelligence. Kebun Rupa humbly welcomes those with likewise spirit, propelled by abundance of love, joy and happiness.

Kebun Rupa is now working with NAFA's Jogjakarta and LAVAA  Langkawi on a series of residency program for creative individuals.
